Someone you know is free right now.

Say when you’re free. See who else is. Turn it into an actual plan.

How it works

Your crew at a glance.

  1. Add your people

Turn your card over. They scan it.

Your code is on the back of your card. Whoever scans it becomes one of your people straight away. No phone number, no spelling a handle out loud.

    1. Tap your card
    2. They point a camera at it
    3. You’re contacts now
The You tab: Joelle’s card turned over to her QR code, HJKMN-PQRST, and a banner over the top: Rany added you. You’re contacts now.
Sam’s phone, Add people: Joelle’s card, @joelle, and “You and Joelle are contacts now.”
  2. Say when you’re free

Say when you’re free. It clears itself.

Not a switch you forget to turn off: a window. Only people you’ve added and your crews see it.

    1. Bored

      Nothing on. Come get me.

    2. Down for anything

      Name it, I’m in.

    3. Out and about

      Outside already. Say where.

    4. Recharging

      Battery low. Back later.

    5. Working

      On the clock. Ping after.

Your people get one buzz, once an hour at most. Recharging and Working buzz nobody.

The check-in: What are you up to? Bored is picked: Bored until 11:00 PM, and Continue.
The Crews tab: you’re Working until 6:00 PM, and 3 of your people are free today: Lena, Sam and Sofia.
  3. Make a crew

Two or more of your people.

The beach lot, the flat, the five-a-side group. An emoji, a name, two or more people.

    1. Tap New crew
    2. Tick who’s in it
    3. Pick an emoji and a colour
    4. They see it in their Crews tab
The crew sheet on sky: 🏖️ Beach crew, with Lena, Sam and Sofia ticked. “Lena, Sam and Sofia will see it in their Crews tab.” Make the crew.
Crews on their own colours, each with its emoji: The flat, Five-a-side, Pizza Fridays, Karaoke lot, Ramen run, Camp crew, and Beach crew, new.

Plans are tickets

From bored to bowling at eight.

A plan is a time, a place and the people coming. Make one and the crews you pick get asked.

When, where, cost, crew

Everything on one stub.

Cost each, dress code, a bring list, the weather for the hour, add to calendar.

The back

Memories, for the people who were there.

Flip the ticket and the day is on the back.

Memories

Photos from the day, a line on each.

Only the plan’s people see these. Never on a public plan.

The plan follows you to the Lock Screen.

Built to be private

What BoredCrew never does.

  • Never records where anyone is. Location is read once, on a tap, never in the background.
  • Never uploads your address book. Matching happens on your phone, and nothing from your contacts is kept.
  • Never shows who’s free to anyone outside your crews and your people. A status is seen by the people you share it with, and no one else.
  • Never scores a person. No flake counts, no streaks, no follower counts.
  • Never tells anyone who looked. No read receipts, no story views.
  • Never shows a public plan’s address, or your name on one, to a stranger. A stranger sees the place’s name and how many are going, never the guest list.
  • Never sets a cookie on this website. No analytics, no third parties.

Blocks are silent and go both ways. A person reads every report, usually within a day.
